11:08 pm - Best adsense day

Made more than $25 on adsense today -- that's 3 to 4 times what I usually make. Wouldn't it be great to average $25/day? That would be better than $9K a year.

I'll have to check my traffic tomorrow but it looks like someone just bid up the prices on the adwords I rank for.

05:21 pm - Thanks, Google, for still buying me lunch
Google makes a payment based on when your adsense income hits $100. So if you earn $99.99 in one month you have to wait an extra month to get paid. As a result, the $100 benchmark is one I've tended to watch, although the only months I've missed it lately were last fall when I got hacked and fell out of the Google index for a while. This month I reached it by the18th, which puts me on a pace for about $175 in June. Hey, it's a start.

The vast majority of this comes from my "how to get a book published" pages. Its' slowly dawned on me to try more "how to" pages. Next one up will probably be "how to pick a typeface."

It turns out the Novshek family has a strain of Aleut in it.

08:32 am - Waters of Potomac
The place we are staying is at the confluence of the Potomac River and Pomonkey Creek. The landlords have a large place with a peer that goes out to the mouth of the Pomonkey. They have a lot of canoes and kayaks we can use.

It's windy here.

This is our house. You can also see the tower the landlords built.

10:26 pm - Does this sound like me?
I took a test at PsyBlog that's supposed to identify your character strengths. I'm not altogether certain what the value of that is, but anyway these are the results I got. (I always feel with these tests that I could take them a week later and get different results.) I guess the idea is to reinforce the positive.

What results do you get?

06:41 pm - A good day

This is what a good adsense day looks like for me right now. I like it that Google buys my lunch!

An extra $3000 a year comes in handy. And the trend is upward.

Now if only someone would link to the Museum of Folly (http://www.follymuseum.com) so I could get that one going ...

09:58 pm - shed update
Here are the wall structural elements ready to be hoisted into place.

The only thing is, with those headers over the door and window and all the associated cripple studs, these walls are going to be pretty heavy. And when the first one is up, failing skyhooks how can it be held in place while another one gets raised to attach to it? Can a sixty-year-old couple really do this all by themselves??

I don't know ...

Seems pretty difficult ...

Still ...

Why, my goodness ...

Yes, they can!

Cool!

Here's another view looking out the windows by the dining area, with the pool garden in the foreground.

11:18 pm - Sarah effing Palin?
I may be broke but, I'm not flat busted
Palin in tee shirt reading "I may be broke but, I'm not flat busted"

Sarah Palin is an insulting VP choice. Comparing the vice presidential picks of the two major candidates speaks volumes about their judgment.

Palin's appalling positions are legion but certainly among the most incredible must be her opposition to the use of birth control pills and condoms, even among married couples. Wow!
